Minja Bogavac

Writer, director, moderator (Serbia)

Born in 1982. Writer, playwright, theater director, screenwriter, poet, drama pedagogue, activist and cultural worker. She graduated in dramaturgy at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts. Her plays have been translated into numerous languages, included in anthologies of contemporary drama, performed in numerous theaters and presented at relevant international festivals. Winner of the Sterija Award (2018 for the play “Jami District”) and the award: “Borislav Mihajlović-Mihiz” for drama; “Josip Kulundžić” for “exceptional success in the field of theater”; two annual awards of the Small Theater “Dushko Radovic”; “Andjelka Milić” awards for a work of art that uses feminist theories; The “Good Example of New Optimism” awards for advocating for human rights and encouraging youth activism, as well as several others. She is employed as the creative director of the Center E8 organization, which works with and for young people. Within the E8 Center, she was the co-founder of the independent, engaged theater Reflector Theater, where she now works as a playwright and director. Independently of work in the E8 Center and the Reflector Theater, she cooperates with numerous cultural institutions and organizations in Serbia and the region. She believes that political theater is the most powerful tool of social emancipation and that the performing arts are inseparable from activism.
