Bosnian director, producer and screenwriter. For his directorial debut “No Man’s Land” he won the Best Screenplay Award at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival and the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2002. The film won a total of 42 awards, making this film one of the most award-winning debut films in the history of filmography. For the films “Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker” and “Death in Sarajevo”, Tanović was awarded the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival in 2013 and 2016. He currently lives in Sarajevo, where he works as a professor of directing at the Sarajevo Academy of Performing Arts.
